Tyler Turns Three

June 11, 2012 by Joel and Andi

Our Birthday boy riding his new motorcycle

This week we celebrated Tyler’s Birthday.  Being the youngest, Tyler is probably the one who has changed the most over this past year.  So since most people haven’t seen us in almost a year, I thought I might take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about Tyler.

Tyler…

  • Can usually be found organizing his cars or trains by size, shape or color.
  • Calls all Africans by the French equivalent of “hello, how are you”s
  • Loves powdered milk
  • Refuses to walk with any sand in his shoes (even though sand is everywhere)
  • Asks to drive any parked car we pass, even though we never say “yes”
  • Is an expert shade finder, because he hates walking in the sun
  • Would be completely content living on french fries, Macaroni and Cheese and fruit
  • Loves music and is not afraid to get his grove on

To celebrate his birthday we went swimming and I baked a car cake for him.  Ethan said it was the funnest day we have had in our new home, so I guess it was a success.  For Tyler’s birthday we got outdoor toys for the boys and they have already provided hours of entertainment.

Living proof that being a parent means doing things WAY out of your comfort zone
It was worth it for the smiles it brought
He loved all of his gifts
Yes even cereal is a treat for our boys
We all enjoyed Tyler's birthday and are celebrating the joy he brings to our family

PS- For those who asked about what we eat here…don’t worry that post is coming!

I love that little boy! I know he barely knows me, but I love him very much. I hope we can skype sometime. I am so glad you had such a good day (especially according to Ethan and kids at that age can be so brutally honest, so you know you’ve done good). 🙂 I am majorly impressed by the cake! Way to go, Andi! How did you ever make that shape? Wow! I think you really do get super powers when you become a mom. 🙂 Love you all!

Aren’t you just the artsy one with the cakes? They are beautiful and Tyler’s shirt matches the frosting perfectly. Such a planner, you.

Glad we got a pre-birthday chat in with the birthday boy himself. Great insight into his psyche. Won’t walk with sand in his shoes . . . that could be a problem. Wish I could have given him a hug!!

    Love,
    Dad/grandpa

Happy Birthday Tyler. What fun in making a cake for him. I remember doing that with our children. The cake looks amazing!! What a joy to have such beautiful and happy boys

Happy birthday, Tyler! I love both faces – the total delight over one of the gifts and the complete amazement that came with the Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
    Love,
    Peggy

Happy Birthday sweet Tyler. Sorry I didn’t get a card off to you this year. 🙁 Love & miss you all.
