Last night there were huge winds that swept across our small town. The doors in our house slammed open and shut and dust swirled everywhere. It was a clear marker of the rains that will soon come to our town. It was hard to sleep with all the noise of the sandstorm taking place. However it also represented for me some of the battles we are facing in life right now. Just recently we were introduced to another new believer at our church. He is a man who was saved from deep inside the pit, but there are many who would like him to back in that pit. They are working very hard to drag him back in through many different ceremonies and rituals. In fact they dedicated 7 days to exactly that. It is like we are standing next to him while a huge storm hits. Yet how to you battle the wind that you can see, but can’t physically touch. It is quite overwhelming and we are often unsure where to even step. However one thing is clear, it draws us to our knees in prayer. It is only God who has the power to command the winds of the storm. So that is what we are doing. We are praying and are fasting. We are coming together as a body of believers every night over these seven days to pray by his side. Praying that somehow God will protect us and the fragile new believer through the storms that surround us. We would appreciate any who would pray alongside for this man and for the small body of believers who are making an effort to stand next to him through the storm.

Luke 8: 22-39
The account of Jesus calming the wind and sea and then the account of the demon possessed man’s healing.
Back to back! Praise our powerful God! May He have mercy and answer swiftly in power!
