Camp Fun

August 5, 2013 by Joel and Andi

We made it through the week of kids camp and I have wrestled all day to pick what to share as there is so much that I could share.  So I decided that I would break it up into two posts.  This first one will be more pictures and fun information the second on will be more details of what God did through our time there.

How This Camp was Similar to Other Camps I Have Been To…

100 kids camp from all over to hear Gods truth
Their were times of teaching
We were broken up into small groups for discussion times
There were new dances to learn and new songs to sing
There was sports and games
There was time for crafts
There was crying all around when it was time to pack up and head home

How This Camp was Different From Any Other Camp I Have Ever Been To…

We had a plan, that we never followed
But yet it still all ended up happening and working out in the end
Every single bed had 2 or 3 people sleeping it (Yes even the single top bunks)
Even then there wasn't enough room, so we added mattresses between all the bunk beds
To Eat we all gathered around a bowl rather than a table
All our meals were cooked over this fire, in this one pot
For all 120 people
We experienced down pours, blackouts, water shortages and so much more
Music was accompanied only by a drum, played by one of the kids
Getting a drink of water after a meal required waiting in line
Creativity was essential even for changing a light bulb
Along with new dances there was also traditional dancing done
The bus was jammed with kids who sang the whole way down

Stay tuned for a little of how God was at work this week…You won’t want to miss it!

I know looks can be deceiving, but it sure looks like a fantastic setting. Of course, we don’t get to experience the smells, heat, dust and discomfort, but it is camp after all. I remember one of our last summers at camp we had a forest fire and a flash flood, both of which required evacuation. You just have to love camp! The experiences stay with kids for life, and us adults too. Way to go Andi and Ethan!

Colors and contrast I see colors and contrast all through these pictures.
Light illuminating the dark and rainbows of colors dancing, singing and displaying the goodness of the God. Makes my heart swell that we are privileged to see such beauty.
And the tapestry of each life is yet to be completed, what beauty is yet to be displayed?
    Ephesians 2:6-10
and God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
