This past weekend was the wedding of two youth who have grown up in our church. Weddings here are a community affair, each has his or her role to play. We are slowly learning what those roles are and how to play our part. Even the kids had a role to play this time. The bride was a young lady who worked frequently with the kids of our church and the kids out in our neighboring village church. So, in honor of her, the kids of our two churches practiced together and performed. They walked down the aisle before her, they danced with her at the reception and they learned a song in Wolof and in Serer, her heart language, to sing for her. Our boys learned a little of traditional dance here, wore traditional clothes and learned a song in 2 new languages. It was a lot of work, but so worth it to help them continue to feel more a part of the body of Christ here.
Here are some pictures of the day for you to enjoy….
