A New Treasure

October 5, 2015 by Joel and Andi

Last Sunday Joel drove down with Ethan to a village about 10 hours away from where we live.  He was there for a huge celebration – it was a celebration of the completion of the New Testament in the Budik language.  It was a joy to celebrate with this church as they now have a printed copy of God’s word in their hands.  It was a joy to celebrate with our missionaries all the work that God had done over their many faithful years of service.  It was a joy to celebrate what God is going to continue to do in and through this church.

The day was a celebration of God's word
The day was a celebration of God’s word
A treasure we often forget that we have
A treasure we often forget that we have
But to others receiving it for the first time there was nothing but joy
But to others receiving it for the first time there was nothing but joy
The boxes were brought in
The boxes were brought in
And then distributed out to those who were there
And then distributed out to those who were there
Many came to the ceremony
Many came to the ceremony
Young and old
Young and old
Believers and unbelievers
Believers and unbelievers
All there to see this new treasure
All there to see this new treasure
There was time of worship
There was times of worship
There was times of sharing
There was times of sharing
And of course times of dancing
And of course times of dancing
It was a great pleasure to be there for the joy of this day
It was a great pleasure to be there for the joy of this day
Let this remind you of the joy we have to have God's word
Let this moment remind you of the joy it is to have God’s word
Don't forget what a treasure we hold
Don’t forget what a treasure we hold
Take a moment and pray for the Budik Church
Also, take a moment and pray for the Budik Church
That God's word would speak truth into peoples lives
That God’s word would speak truth into people’s lives
And that the church there would continue to grow and strengthen!
And that the church there would continue to grow and strengthen!

What a blessing your blog is to me! I hope that the Lord will continue to let me be a part of this ministry of sharing His Word with those who are getting it for the first time. The fact that they were in utter darkness until the missionaries got there with God’s Word. May He continue to bless all of you who are getting the Gospel to the tribes. Love in Christ, Mary C. I think we often forget or don’t think about what a privilege it is to be able to read God’s word in our own language. I can only imagine the joy and celebration that was going on here when they finally had a copy of their own written in their own language. Praise God for all who worked so diligently to make this happen. May God bless them and you richly. Thanks so much for your blog and all the pivtures you include. They really help tell the story.

    Dear Andi,

Thank you for sharing about Joel’s trip. Being raised in a Christian family, and being exposed to the Bible at a very early age, I cannot imagine what it would be like not to have a Bible in my own language. May God’s Word strengthen the Budik Church, and may the church be strengthened and grow mightily.
