Kids Summer Outting

September 21, 2018 by Joel and Andi

This summer we ran into a snag with our kids camp, as the camp grounds we usually rent for the time were already booked.  Honestly we had waited to long to get started on the planning and we learned from the experience as we have it already booked for next year.  We visited other possible places, but nothing seemed to be coming together, so eventually we decided it would be best just to do a day outing this summer and begin planning for next summer camp.  Although this was disappointing to our kids, they were still super excited for their day outing.  I sure do enjoy being involved in these kids lives.

We had a group of about 72 kids and 8 adults.  We crammed into a bus with many kids sitting double and drove 90 minutes to the beach.  Our theme was “What can we Give to God”.  We had a teaching on how we can how we can serve God with our gifts, even as kids.  We had singing, crafts and sports.  Their favorite part was swimming in the ocean.  Funnest part for them and most terrifying for us as maybe only 20 percent know how to swim.  We formed a semi circle with the 6 adults who could swim as a human barrier and all the kids stayed in a crowded group inside that.  They were packed like sardines, but they loved it. Our bus pulled to fix his headlights on the way back and then had to off road a little to get around traffic, but we finally made it home at around 8 pm.  When we got home we all crashed!  It was a crazy, but great day of many memories for these kids!

Our group
They sang most of the way up in the bus
When we arrived they had a great teaching
And a great time of singing

They gathered around bowls to eat
They we did crafts
Which they always love
I had the older group and Joel’s mom has the young ones

Swimming was next, but we didn’t take pictures as we had too much to do
Keeping these precious ones safe
It was a great day out
May God continue to draw each one of them close to himself as the future church of Senegal.
