Peace in Uncertainty

June 20, 2020 by Joel and Andi

  • Sometimes Life is full of surprises

Over the past months, one thing that has been difficult was knowing what would happen with our return to the US this summer for furlough. At first we felt, “surely by then things will be open up”. Then as the time wore on and things kept changing in the wrong direction, the certainty dwindled. I will admit I struggled to keep peace in the uncertainty. There were times when I was fine and other times I was so tired of the unknown and the inability to plan for anything. Yet God was always so good and met me right where I was. Reminding me that He has it all in his hands. Things are opening up here slowly but surely, but it is still uncertain when our borders will open.

  • I am also learning to see the blessings during the times of uncertainty

It has been quite a journey these past few months. We have had 2 tickets canceled on us and have spent hours on the phone with different agents. However in the end we now have tickets, for a repatriation flight going back to the US in about a week. Finally we have tickets that don’t depend on the borders opening. On top of that we didn’t end up having to pay anything for the flight change in the end. This is sooner than we had originally planned so we are busy getting all we can done and ready to leave. However we are all so thankful to have a flight and an opportunity to return to the US this summer.

  • Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

So how can you be praying for us?

  • Pray for us to remain healthy as that is one thing that could cause difficulties in travel.
  • We have a flight but it is not a pretty one! We have 40 hours of travel time including a 16 hour layover in one airport, where we can’t leave the international section and no airport hotels are open. Pray we are able to sleep!
  • Pray for our last week and all that needs to get done, including the boys trying to finsih up the last 2 weeks of school in one week.
  • We all have a lot ahead of us this next week

We don’t know exactly how this furlough will look with all that has changed in the US. However we are hoping to put together some gatherings in the fall that will allow us to share more about what God is at work doing here. So look forward to more information to come in the future.

  • Thanks for Pryaing for us

PTL you were able to find a flight. Praying for “rest” while you travel and renewal once you arrive in the States. Looking forward to connecting sometime this fall.

Andi and Joel, thanks for once again sharing how God is meeting you at every corner. He has such a nack for doing so as He knows us in and out. This morning I was driving to get my hair cut for the first time in 3 months and on the way there I told God, I am over this, so over this Corona virus. Unfortunately, I didn’t give him time to respond I just kept complaining.

Just now I read your post, God reminded me of all I have, of all He has done for me and truly I am thankful. I really have nothing personally to complain about. Please forgive me Lord.

We will be praying for your flight. It already makes me tired for you just thinking about it. May the Lord be gracious and provide all you need during this time. May He use you right where you are to glorify Him.

We are praying and looking forward to seeing you. At least at this time we can have up to 50 people per service in church. Lord willing by the time you reach Vancouver, WA we may be in Phase 3 and maybe we will be allowed an unlimited number. At least we can pray that way.

Praise God worked it all out, pray for the long lay over. If your travels take you to TN I’m 100 miles east of Nashville and 60 miles West of Knoxville.
    Safe and healthy travels.
