I don’t know why, but no matter where you go there are lots of people in big cities. Go figure. Manila is no exception. Heidi have spent the past week here and, besides working on the tasks we came here to do, we have had a few opportunities to get out on the streets and enjoy the traffic.
One of those excursions was a trip to the airport to pick up Tim and Peggy Langan from Olympia, Washington. Tim and Peggy heard that our mission support center needed help and they volunteered to come over and help out for three months. We are thankful to have them here with us.
The project that I hoped to work on while here seems to be stuck in traffic. One of the people I was going to work with had to make an emergency trip to Australia to help care for a missionary family that was working in Papua New Guinea. Their son became very ill due to Lyme’s disease and was flown to Australia. The sick boy’s name is Cade and he is too weak to be flown home to the USA. They would appreciate your prayers.
Do you remember George Olson who came to give our team language consultant checks a few months ago? He was on his way to an island near Palawan to help the missionaries there and came down with both Dengue fever and typhoid at the same time. He was hospitalized but is on the mend now and is hoping to have enough strength to travel back to Manila this weekend. He would also appreciate your prayers.
There were a couple translation jobs that needed hours of uninterrupted time to complete. I don’t usually have uninterrupted time in the village, so I was wondering when I would ever be able to get them done. Due to my scheduled job being postponed, I was able to complete those jobs this week. I am happy that I had a chance to do them but both Heidi and I are even happier that we will be heading back to the village next week.
Prayer Requests:
- That Cade will regain his strength.
- That George will recover from Dengue and typhoid.
- That we will be able to wrap up the things we need to get done while in town
- That we will have a safe trip back to the village.
Praise:
- David, our partner, did very well on his language check last week. It won’t be long before he is finished with formal language study.
Thank you for your prayers,
Jonathan & Heidi
