One of our prayer requests last week was that we would be able to get back to the village.
Thank you for praying. We made it out a day later than scheduled and were very happy to be home because we had a lot of rocks to float. Not only did we want to do a last check of Romans and Ephesians before the consultants arrived, but we also had a couple of community development projects that we were wanting to get wrapped up before our home assignment that is coming up in March.
One of the projects was another installment of the retaining wall. The big problem was that the rocks to build the wall were on the other side of the river. The first attempt at floating rocks was made using rafts made from banana tree trunks. Just a word of advice: Never mind trying to float rocks on banana boats, it doesn’t work very well. The bamboo raft did quite well. The guys worked very hard and were able to build the wall in three days.
While they were building the wall, Devis was also working hard helping me check the translation and Heidi was working to keep the back translation to English up to date for the consultants. We were relieved to have everything ready to go the evening before the consultants were due to arrive. That is another answer to prayer.
Prayer Requests: Please keep praying for the Brooks family. Danny’s surgery went well. He is healing from the operation and still waiting for the results of the biopsy.
The consultants arrived on schedule this morning and we plan to start the translation check in the morning. Please pray that the check will go well, and that God will give us all endurance and insight into how to communicate His precious word into the Southern Isnag language.
Thank you for praying! God bless, Jonathan & Heidi
