Dear Praying Friends,
The main event this past week has been having our language consultant, George Olson, and our friends, Geff and Grace Harada come to spend the week with us.
Geff has worked with the Iwaak tribe to the south of us for many years, but this was the first time he has visited our village and he was totally taken aback by the beauty of the area as can be clearly seen in his arrival photo. George, in the back, visited in 2007 and was able to take in the beauty without beating his head.
George spent a few days working with Heidi and her language helper before moving on to work with our partners. Heidi is really pleased with the help he has been able to provide and sees how it will help her gain a greater level of fluency.
Geff and Grace are to fly to Canada on Tuesday and bad weather delayed their flight out of our valley. On Friday afternoon, we were really praying that they would be able to get out in time to get to Manila to catch their flight. I saw an opening in the weather and called the helicopter. Ten minutes later it was raining again and we were fogged in. I tried to contact the helicopter to have him delay his flight, but he had already taken off. We prayed and ten minutes before he landed here, the rain had stopped and the sun came out and we saw the first blue sky we had seen in days. The helicopter landed and departed and thirty minutes later it started raining again. We thank the Lord that they were able to visit us and to get out in time to catch their flights.
This week George will finish up his language learning consulting and fly out to town. He also helps our mission with safety and security and would appreciate your prayers that he would have wisdom as he helps missionaries make decisions regarding risk and for his safe return trip home.
Yesterday I taught lesson 11 in the series I’m teaching and am currently writing lesson 25, so I’m pretty far ahead. After finishing this lesson I plan to focus on translation for the next several weeks.
Our son, James, has been deployed and has arrived safely in the middle east.
Thank you for your prayers! God bless, Jonathan
