Saying “Goodbye” to 11 years of ministry

April 29, 2011 by Jonathan and Lisa Parker

It seems after being involved in missions all ones life that saying goodbye would get easier.  As far as I am concerned it seems like it has only gotten harder, so much so that I usually only say “see ya later”.  We are thankful for all the people that God has allowed us to work with and minister to these past 11 years at the Missionary Training Center.

We had the joy of meeting with some of our former teens last Saturday.  We were able to get caught up on what was going on in their lives.  It was cool to hear how God is working in their lives as they get to know Him on a more personal level.

We were able to hang out with our current group for the last time on Tuesday which was “bitter sweet” to be sure. It was exciting to show them where we are headed and what we will be doing over in Southeast Africa.  On the other hand we will miss them all like crazy.  We are thankful that God has provided great leaders to continue ministering to them.

This Sunday will be our last at Calvary Chapel, our church home for the past 11 years, before we move.  We have been blessed to have a group of believers that have been a huge blessing and support during some of the most difficult times in our lives.  I am sure we will shed some tears on Sunday but we are thankful that will have such a wonderful support network in this area.

We will be packing the moving truck on Saturday and heading out on Monday.  We would appreciate prayers as we finish up and then both have to drive the 1000 miles to Pennsylvania in separate vehicles.
