Santa Monica, CA to San Diego, CA

December 12, 2012 by Jordan Husband

Trip so far: 82hr 49min, 5641.4 mi
Wednesday: 12:45am PST to 5:15pm PST

We went out to breakfast this morning with Uncle Logan and Auntie Heather - Elayne got to sit by both, and had so much fun!

Our arrival in California gave us the opportunity to spend a few days with family before heading further south, and we enjoyed every moment!

Logan and Heather were kind enough to put us up in the area, and introduce us to several of their friends in the area. Our time with them in Santa Monica went all too quickly – as has been the pattern on this trip with all our stops – but we loved having the time to spend together. We’re glad it won’t be too long until we get to see them again!

Wednesday’s drive was mercifully short contrasted with our previous days’ journeys… only 3 hours of moving time, even allowing for some traffic along the way! Our family stopped to visit our awesome friend Jon at his place of employment in Newport Beach, and introduced him to the kids for the first time in person. (Jon, I *still* don’t know how it’s possible you didn’t see them before now!) Titus took an unexpected dive into the hotel pool, but I think he enjoyed meeting Jon nonetheless!

We also finally achieved our most obvious goal in California – eating at In ‘N Out, which was my (Jordan’s) first opportunity to do so since graduating from college! That experience may require an encore. Having arrived in Sand Diego, our family will now be at the house of old friends Shawn and Katie for a few days’ time. After that, the inexorable trip northward will begin!
