Greetings from the big town of Roach, Missouri! Yes, the town is called Roach, and no, it’s not all that big.. It consists of a gas station, a post office, and our campus, but it is where we call home.
Much has changed in our lives over the last year. I completed my instrument rating and commercial pilots license just before Christmas last year. In January we visited the New Tribes Mission Aviation training and maintenance facility in McNeal, Arizona for a week of interviews and technical evaluation. This visit confirmed our acceptance into training with NTM.
July found Candy almost eight months pregnant, going through our entire 2100 square foot house, preparing to downscale to a 450 square foot apartment with two bedrooms and a half bath. While Candy was cleaning out the house and packing, I was still trying to wrap up my last couple of projects at work so I could quit and we could move.
On August 7th, our vision of flying on the mission field made a flying leap forward as we moved to Missouri for our first year of training with New Tribes Mission.
We started classes on the 15th, and quickly settled into a routine. Our days are full, but pleasantly so. Every class is so full of vital information and lessons for the ministry we are called to. Just a sample of our courses includes things like Teaching Skills, Animism, Cross-cultural Communication, Christian Life and Phonetics. On September 19, our little Christiana Faith was born. It has been a wonderful new experience to have a daughter, and we are so humbled by and thankful for the precious children God has given us.
It is such a privilege to finally be here. Many of you have played a crucial part in bringing us to this point in our journey, and we are thankful for all the ways the Lord has blessed us through you. Our prayer is that each of you may see our Savior more clearly as we celebrate his birth this year.
