Ongoing translation/teaching dilemma — “Saving Faith” – how do you communicate that? In Hewa was translate Faith = to believe-completely with your heart – We do not use “to do a good job of thinking completely” even though that is what the people originally wanted us to say… we felt that made it sound like we have to do it just right… or do it well enough … or something like that and I am glad that we have dropped that – “good faith” could feeds into the works mindset of mankind. On the teaching side, We have been spelling it out more clearly is that being saved requires 3 things – Hearing the story of God’s redemption of humanity with our ears, understanding the implications of the story with our heads, and believing-completely with our hearts.
