Kim’s Visit to one of the regions here in May
I have visited one of the regions for a week (5/23~28) and Haejung and kids stayed at home because of Seowon’s school schedule. God gave me precious opportunities to learn about the spiritual realities and needs there through meeting with many missionaries.
- The Realities of the region where I visited
The region is located in the eastern end of Asia Pacific, where many tribes still remain. There are about two million people, yet 270 languages exist. One language is spoken by 7,400 people on average. Most of tribal languages are used in a form of spoken language without a written form. This area is isolated from both spiritual blessings and physical blessings. They have been neglected not only from the benefits of civilization, but also from the good news of Christ.
- The Needs of the region
A tribal missionary told me a story. One day, he asked a tribal guy who claims to be a Christian.
“How were you forgiven?”
The guy answered, “I was forgiven by being baptized. It is the water that washed out all of my sins.“
This sad, miserable answer is the result that we failed to communicate the gospel in an understandable way in their language. When they can hear the gospel in a language which they can understand, they can rest in the grace of God and eternal security.
Through this visit, Haejung and I get convinced that there are many needs in that region, and we have decided to serve a tribe in there. Now what we need is to be accepted by the leadership team of there. Once get accepted, we will move there at the end of this year. Thank you for praying for the decision-making process.

2 For our health:
Since we are in the season changes from rainy season to dry season, there are many viruses and bacteria going around. It is not easy to find a reliable medical services here.
3. For our continuous language study:
We need to go back to the normal routine to continue to focus on the language study in a faithful way.
