A few weeks ago we got in touch with former class mates, Jacob and Sharon Toews. We’ve been praying for them for about a year now, ever since we heard of Jacob’s liver transplant and subsequent brain aneurysm. We wanted to hear their story and learn how we could better pray for them. In the midst of our conversation, they asked for any prayer requests we might have. We said we had some days in our itinerary that we didn’t know what to do with. Jacob called us the next day with a proposition. "We have a rental house available and we’ll let you live there during this time under one condition, you preach for me." We were tempted to say yes right away but we knew we needed to spend time asking the Lord if this was what He wanted. Three days later we gave our answer – YES we would come to Calera, Oklahoma for 13 days helping where we could. Although Jacob has improved quite a bit in his health, he’s still not 100% and it’s been our pleasure to help him out during this time in his life.
We received an email from Ron & Michelle Jennings the other day with 2 answers to prayer. They said that their permanent visa has been granted and stamped into their passports.
They also mentioned Michelle’s spinal problem. They sent the scans to their doctor in Australia who wrote back saying, "the scans are incomplete and inadequate. However,a spinal fusion is unlikely to be necessary, and probably quite the opposite, i.e. either no surgery, or something much smaller for an operation. It all depends on seeing the patient and all the scans, which I am happy to do…."
Next Monday we head to Columbia, Missouri to visit a friend who has a rare form of cancer. We’ll spend one night with them and the next day we’ll head to our mission conference on the Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri where we’ll be for one week. Thanks for all your prayers for us as we travel and share what God is doing in the Higaunon church.
Secure in Christ’s love,
Lance & Laura
