Greetings:
Hello from our jungle home. The past several weeks have been amazing and our hearts are full. Here’s the rundown.
Tribal Church Conference:
The Higaunon church holds a conference for all church leaders, deacons, and their wives twice a year. This is a time of encouraging one another through teaching and reporting on what God is doing throughout the region.
A few years ago, the women decided (unbeknownst to the men) that they would each save one peso every day to support their mission work. (It takes about 60 pesos to equal one U.S. dollar.) At that next conference they presented a motorcycle to one of the Higaunon missionaries. It came as a complete surprise to all the men! The women have continued this practice, and this year they presented two Bible teachers with motorcycles.
A single peso may not seem like much, but when combined and given in faith, it is amazing what God can do with it.
Manila intensives:
Last week we had over 50 people representing 9 different countries along with several ethnic groups in the Philippines gather for face-to-face intensives. The equipping program that we have been advisors for bring all the students in this region together for teaching. This year’s main topic was on Positional Truth out of Ephesians 1. We spent five sessions on that, with a breakout discussion after each session where the students spent time processing what they learned. We left there with full hearts!
Back to the village:
Our trip for the intensives lasted for almost two weeks and we flew back to the village on June 5. Over the next two months, our team will be working on the final comprehension check of the books of Job, Joel, and Amos. Please pray for wisdom and clarity as we work through this important stage of the translation process.
Several of our translation assistants have been dealing with illness recently. Please pray that everyone will keep healthy in the days ahead.
