A number of years ago an old man showed up in the village and left a few days later with Tahak’s daughter.
Bikbik was gone and everyone was sad, especially Tahak. Bikbik was upset that her dad didn’t do anything to try and keep her! God only knew when or if we’d see her again.
This was some culture that took some digging into to understand but in the end we told Tahak, “God will have his way.”
Bikbik was taken down river and lived with her uncle and family. Even though these people had opportunity to listen to the teaching, they refused.
We heard news of her from time to time; when she was sick or when something of significance took place in her life. Eventually, Bikbik was forced into a marriage and Tahak didn’t see her for many years.
The news finally came that they had moved to where they could hear the teaching. We were excited to hear that they had started listening and we became hopeful that she and her husband would come to know the Lord.
Just the other day we heard some great news! Bikbik and her husband and 3 children are back living in the village with Tahak! Tahak said, “It’s true what you said about God having His way and now I have 3 grandchildren and Bikbik and her husband are listening to the teaching. We were able to buy them a Bible too. I am so excited!”
What amazing technology we have these days (something we never dreamed of in the “old days”) that allows us to have communication with our dear Higaunon brothers and sisters. We were able to talk and see (via webcam) Tahak and his wife, Kagay, thanks to a friend on the coast who was able to call us on our computer!
