Two Visitors
We had two visitors at the house the other day. The first one was all about “everyone is persecuting me!” Our neighbor was rather upset by the way he perceived people were treating him. We told him he needed to go see the church leadership. It has been many years since we have taken any kind of teaching/leadership role amongst the Higaunon. Our job is to provide teaching materials and translation of scripture. Not that we mind hearing what people have to say… not at all… like Alice who came later in the day.
I Am a Jealous God!
She reminded us as we sat down with her that she had visited us with some of the church leadership, before we left the village last February. Back then she came to us saying, “I want to confess my sin.” She had already spoken to the church and they wanted her to share it with us. It was an encouragement to hear her words, confessing that she had gone against the advice of the church and more importantly, the Word of God!
The other day was a continuation of what she ended with last February. “When I left here that day I got a horrendous headache and thought I was going to go mentally insane! Then God started speaking to me in my mind saying, ‘I am a jealous God!’ and at first I wasn’t sure what to think but He challenged me about my unsaved husband. ‘What if I remove him from you?’ I didn’t think I could handle my children without my husband but He assured me that He was more than able to help me care for them.
“God hasn’t removed my husband from me but simply wanted me to be willing to trust Him in this, no matter what happens.” What a blessing to hear such testimony of God’s work in Alice’s life!
In the mean time…
It’s testimonies like Alice’s that are encouraging as we continue to work on scripture translation. Lance is working through the Psalms for the second time and it is going well.
We shared with you in previous emails that the plane was down for repair. Please continue to pray for this situation. The plane is out of service while waiting a new propeller and engine. These items have arrived in Manila with the helicopter for Luzon that we’ve also mentioned before. Please pray with us that the crate will soon be released from customs without excessive duty.
Thank you for your part in this ministry amongst the Higaunon.
Secure in Christ’s love
