We thought we’d share with you some of the good things that are going on in the village while we have been working on Old Testament translation.
2 Timothy 2:2 “…the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.“
The meeting house was getting rather crowded on Sunday mornings so the church decided it was time to add on to the building. No building permits required here; it’s just a matter of collecting the materials and getting people to work on it. They only work on it one day a week so this project will take a while.
During this construction period the believers have been meeting in the “long house” which is right behind our office. Not a day (and many late evenings) goes by that we don’t hear them teaching and singing. It brings joy to our hearts as we watch God at work in people’s lives.
One of the Higaunon church’s prayer requests is for more laborers. Higaunon believers have taken the gospel to over a dozen villages and as a result, there are other villages saying, “What about us? We want someone to come and teach us!” But at the moment, there isn’t anyone they can afford to send as they would be spreading themselves too thin. A couple from a distant village said they would not wait for someone to come teach them so they moved here last year. They recently finished listening to the first series of chronological lessons and placed their faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross!
With the goal of sending Bible teachers to other villages, the church leaders are discipling several young people, teaching them how to teach. They have been helping teach this young couple who moved here to listen to God’s Word.
Please pray for these things; the church construction, the teaching and the outreaches to other villages as well as our work on the translation.
Secure in Christ’s love,
Lance and Laura
