time flies when…

May 4, 2014 by Lance and Laura Ostman

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Time flies, not just when you’re having fun…

Here we are at the end of our time in the village; time has gone by very quickly! We don’t know that “fun” is the best word to describe our time, but we sure have kept busy and we have had fun! We praise the Lord that we’ve seen HIM undertake for us in so many ways. Having accomplished all we had hoped to gives us hearts full of praise to HIM!

Please pray: for good weather for the day we hope to fly out of the village! The weather forecast is for RAIN for a whole week beginning tomorrow (Monday)! Ron & Michelle, our coworkers, will have their supplies come in on the flight that will take us out. Imagine 3 weeks of fresh vegetables and fruit just sitting in boxes if they can’t be delivered “on time.” It’s also hard on the pilot and his family if things don’t happen on schedule. So this affects a lot of people.

NOT FUN: A hairy caterpillar climbed inside Laura’s shirt the other day as she sat on the porch for a few minutes. All of a sudden she felt an intense itching and then, pain! The caterpillar’s hair is its self defense mechanism. This was not a pleasant experience at all, but we’re thankful it was a first in so many years of living here. We’ve had some itchy spots before because of them, but nothing like what happened to Laura the other day.

FUN and OPPORTUNITY: Lord willing, we will soon be on our way to see Justin and Nicole and their 3 precious children. Two years ago on our way to see them, we met a man on the plane who… well, you’ll have to wait until next our update to find out more about Wang.

In all things, whether those that are temporal, like pain from a caterpillar, or eternal, like the Word of God and the souls of mankind, may God be glorified.

Secure in Christ’s love,

Lance & Laura
