Sugar? ● God appointments ● House purchase ● Translation

August 28, 2015 by Lance and Laura Ostman

Hello from Oklahoma.

Sugar? We recently went to put fuel our car and found that the gas wouldn’t go in. After looking online, it seemed sugarthe problem was a part that needed replacing. After that part arrived and was installed, we tried to fuel up again to no avail. Lance’s brother-in-law told him to check the fuel filler tube…and what did he find? Someone attempted to put sugar in the gas tank. Lance was able take the part off and dump the sugar out. You may ask, “Why didn’t the gas flush the sugar into the tank?” The only answer we have for that is – God.

God appointments: (1) Last Sunday we saw a couple at church we hadn’t met yet, so went up to introduce ourselves. We had nice visit with John & Helen before the service began. After the service, they asked if we wanted to join them for lunch. In visiting with them over lunch, Helen mentioned the names, “Chuck & Betty” and we said, “We know a Chuck & Betty…” When you get inside the circle of followers of Jesus, it’s truly a small world! John & Helen know the same couple named Chuck & Betty that we know from our sending church in Florida!

God appointments: (2) Wednesday night, Lance went to church without me (I wasn’t feeling well). He sat on the Frank and Lancefront row and introduced himself to an older gentleman. It wasn’t long before the man asked Lance where we came from. He told him we had moved here recently from Florida. Frank said he had a sister who had lived in Florida… We had known that our friend, Ginny, had a brother who lived in this area – but only God could have orchestrated for Lance to not only sit next to Frank, but to get into conversation and find out, he was the brother of our friend Ginny (also from our church in Florida) whom we had wanted to meet!

House purchase: Thank you so much for praying for us! These “God appointments” and conversations are just more confirmation to us that we are exactly where HE wants us to be. We’ve pursued buying our own place and so far it has gone very smoothly. Friends have been advocating for us to see if enough funds could be raised so we won’t have a mortgage. Click here to see the campaign started by a dear friend on the NTM website. The closing on the house is scheduled on or before September 30th. We’d appreciate your prayers! This is a huge step of faith for us, first time home buyers at our age! Psalm 37:4-5 comes to mind 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.(NKJ)

Jeremiah: Lance continues to work on initial draft translation of Jeremiah. He needs prayer for wisdom as there are some mighty tough passages in the book! Thank you again for partnering with us to see the Higaunon have the Scriptures in their language!

Thank you for praying for us.

scroll down for pictures. (The sellers are obviously still living in the house but they are leaving some of the furniture and most of the appliances which will save us a lot of time and money.)
