Of taking a break, celebrating a New Testament and other things!

April 10, 2025 by Lance and Laura Ostman

We enjoyed some frozen yogurt at the Kaamulan Festival.

“I know that You can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. Job 42:2 (NKJV)

Greetings once again from our jungle home.

What a joy it is to see God at work in and through His children. He is fulfilling His purpose and for that, we are eternally grateful. Here’s a question for you to consider: What is God’s purpose for your life?

We took a break

After being in the village for a while, we decided to take a break. We spent a couple of days at the beach and one day in the city to do some shopping. There is something about the sound of the ocean that refreshes the mind, body, and soul.

We then spent time at our organization’s guesthouse, where we were able to visit with some of our newer missionaries. These are mostly families with young children who are doing language and culture study. It’s wonderful to see how God has been answering prayer for more missionaries for the Philippines.

A New, New Testament

The Higaunon church has had a long-time relationship with the Banwaon people group. The church leadership from both groups spends time coordinating evangelism outreach. The missionaries to that people group, Albert and Lynne Castelijn, recently celebrated the completion of their New Testament translation.  We had planned on attending, but sickness kept us from going.

We understand that over 70 Higaunon believers were part of the approximately one thousand who attended. They came back very excited and encouraged at having been able to attend. Praise the Lord!

Translation checking

Since returning from our break, Lance and his translation assistant, Sansuwa, finished the initial comprehension check of the book of Job. Upon completion, Sansuwa immediately asked when they would have access to it in their Bible app. The checking process is quite lengthy, and it will take a while. Hopefully they will have it next year at this time. Since finishing that book, they have delved into some of the minor prophets.

Global Equip

We are scheduled to be with our students in May for an intensive. This is 5 days of teaching and enjoying being together face to face instead of on the computer screen. Please pray for us as we prepare for the subjects we’ve been assigned to teach. Meanwhile, we’re praying for more students. This month is enrollment. Please pray with us that God will bring us more students who want to be trained. Check out this promotional video, Global Equip Online Promo Video

Thank you

Again, we are so grateful for your continued partnership with us in prayer and financial support of what the Lord is doing here among the Higaunon.
Secure in Christ’s love alone,

Lance & Laura
