Greetings:
We praise the Lord that during our time in the Philippines, we accomplished all the goals we had set for ourselves. Job, Joel, and Amos have been completed and are now part of the Higaunon Scriptures. In our last update, I shared that I didn’t think I would finish checking the Psalms, but praise the Lord I did! Psalms 61-150 are now ready for Ron to go through and prepare for the final comprehension check. We are very thankful for how the Lord enabled us to accomplish what we had hoped to do.
On the way to the US:
We arrived back almost two weeks ago and are finally feeling settled! Our flight back to the US was not without some drama, but overall, it went well. Drama in the sense that Laura had a wet lap for much of the trip! A cup of hot tea ended up in her lap after something startled her, although she was never sure just what it was. Then a cup of water spilled because her tray table was broken. And later while she was cleaning her glasses, they broke! Thankfully, we were able to find a pair of readers in the Salt Lake City airport when we arrived.
At our gate in Manila, we met a basketball team that was heading to Korea for training. I started talking with them because they were speaking Visayan, and they were all quite surprised that I could understand them. We spent some time talking about the gospel, and one of them told me that he was saved. Then, on the flight from Korea, my seatmate was a man who lives in Raleigh, NC. He is a Christian originally from China. We had a good conversation. It was encouraging to see how the Lord continued to give us opportunities to talk with people about Him even as we were traveling home.
Back in the US:
Before we left Manila, Robert had flown down from Alaska to be with Ean, so he was there to pick us up from the airport. And since he is so good at what he does, we had him redo our office! It is so nice to have that old carpet removed and the walls painted.
Many of you have faithfully prayed for Ean. Thank you! And please continue to do so. We keep trusting the Lord for a miracle.
From the Higaunon:
One of the prayer requests we often receive from our Higaunon friends is, “Pray for us. Satan keeps on trying to defeat us.” This is no surprise.
The encouraging picture at the top of this update was sent to us the other day. It’s of a women’s meeting in one of the outreaches. Satan hates to see the church growing and remaining faithful, and he is doing what he can to hinder the Higaunon believers. But we know his tactics, and more importantly, we know the One who is greater!
We are reminded of Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24:
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”
Praise the Lord! He who calls us is faithful, and He will do it.
