>Hi
Thanks for popping in and please remember to check out the other links on this page. We have a few prayer points and a photo album with much more photos! Also you can get some info on our work here in Papua New Guinea.
We had the opportunity to visit another tribal location close to Goroka. They have been exposed to the West and to the Catholic church for many years, but still have no understanding of the Gospel and they do not have a Bible in their own language! Neither do the Catholic priest teach in their mother language but only in Pidgen which is the trade language.
The purpose of these visits of us is to use the language that we acquired within a natural cultural context and to work on fluency. Here in this picture we are walking around and visiting in the village, but as you can see we are drawing a real crowd again. This is usually what happens until they get accustomed to us being around.
This is a real strange culturall phenomena for me! This is a new friend of ours who just recently arrived from America. It was his first trip with us. You can see the national holding his hand! This often happen as we walk along, the men will hold your hand. This is absolutely natural between men, friends and family and when this happens you can know that you are culturally accepted! Still for me it is a bit strange and I cant help but feeling funny and avoiding it.
As usual we had to bath in the local streams which in this case is really very clean and very cold. It remain strange to us due to the fact that we always have spectators, trying to get into our photos.
This is the house that we stayed in for the few days. It is a round house and called a kunai house due to the fact that it’s roof is made of kunai grass.
Thank you very much for your prayers and letters of encouragement. Every day we understand even more the need for continual prayer support. As we face these people and the situation they are in we realize than only God can make a difference, through the working of his Spirit!
Therefore pray with us for miracles!
Thanks for giving, writing and praying, may God richly bless you!
And as the Papuan’s would say:
‘lukim ju sampla taim‘
Most People are brought to faith in Christ, not by argument for it,
But by exposure to it.
