Hi Friends
As many of you know both Liam and Marlou has been very sick the last week or so. It seems that both have Malaria. They have basically had a constant fever of about 39 to 40 degrees over the last 4 days and even though they were on anti malarial treatment it has not yet broken the fever satisfactory. It has seemed as if Liam was on the verge of having some kind of convulsion due to fever but the Lord spared us from that a few times now.
It also seems that Marlou has a bad tooth so much so that her gums are infected which causes her to have a painful jaw and a distorted face! We have decided to get both Liam and Marlou to Goroka in the Highlands so that they can be checked out and at least Marlou’s teeth and gum worked on. Just to add more excitement, one of Marie’s teeth also broke in these days, so that will also have to be checked out.
Such an ‘evacuation’ to Goroka has many down sides. We will have to leave some of our responsibilities here in our village. Arrangements for flights from our village to Hoskins and then from Hoskins to Goroka needs to be made. All this of course will cost dollars and discomfort for the family. But we trust that God is in control. It thus so happened that Marie, Liam and Marlou was flown to Goroka today at about 11 o clock and we hope the doctor and dentists will be able to sort them outJ
We thank the Lord that both Liam and Marlou are doing better and it seems as if the Malaria medication has kicked in. Unfortunately Madeleen was also down with a serious fever last night so we are praying that she will not go the same route than the other 2.
Wow life in the bush can change quickly from a slow pace to a huge rush!
Please pray with us:
That our kids will get better soon.
That we will be able to make the arrangements and that everything will be able to be sorted out in Goroka.
That we will be able to leave the believers and that they will be able to go on, on their own, for 2 weeks or so.
That God will provide the funds needed to get Marie, Liam and Marlou to Goroka and back.
Thanks for your prayer and support and I will keep you all updated on what’s happening.
Ps. I will be having a language evaluation during this weekend. During such an evaluation they determine how you are progressing and give some advice on how to move ahead. So please pray for me and Marie that both of us will do well and be able to speak freely.
