Hi friends
After many years in the jungle it seems that we have grown accustomed to the jungle and that which lives there. Yet I am still dumbfounded by what we see every now and then. The question would be what do cockroaches eat? The answer would be anything in cardboard boxes.
We recently went for a translation workshop at our support centre and when I returned to my home in the village I realized there were a few things I’d forgotten about village life. The cockroaches made no waste of papers, glue, envelopes etc. No to mention aluminum packets and the tomato paste and dried soup packets inside etc.
Except for the insects I forgot about the other things about living in a tropical. I feel like I’m wet all the time, and my cloths always smells bad. If it is not raining it is 90 degrees Fahrenheit with 100 percent humidity. Therefore I’m either wet with sweat or rain but at least when it’s not raining; the clean clothes are dry — until I put them onJ
Everyday sounds in the village are quite different from the city where you may be at. There are no loud car horns or radios or TV blaring, but there are dogs fighting, roosters crowing, loud insects chirping and many unhappy pigs squealing in the front yard.
And living in this hot and sticky climate can do strange things to your body. There are these itchy red bumps on my arms and legs and our legs are always in a bad shape due to sad flies biting us.
In spite of the various surprises awaiting us, the transition back to village has grown to be very special for we truly love our friends in the village.. My friends are always delighted to see us and the believers always has some exciting stories to tell us about God’s faithfulness. Suddenly the roaches and the climate and the sounds does not seem like any problem.
Thanks for being part of our team
