I can see the headlines now. ‘Old missionary statesman succumbs to age-old malady.’ Roman pick-pockets struck with lightening speed and I was robbed of the $250 cash the mission had given me for the trip to Italy.
An experienced traveler, I thought I had all the bases covered, but jet lag had left me sleepless the night before. It was only after leaving the hotel with European friends that I realized I still had the cash in my pocket. I tied my jacket securely around my waist, and protected the cash with my hand. I knew how easy it was to lose your belongings on the streets. But the lady with the baby undid me. While she rifled for the phone, someone else got away with the cash.
What’s going on with the Hares? Katy robbed by a kid attending VBS in Costa Rica, and now I am robbed attending a conference in Italy! My head shakes in dismay. I can’t believe I let this happen.
I am reminded of Who orchestrates our steps and supplies our needs. God has been faithful and completely trustworthy for over 36 years of ministry travel and living abroad. He has protected us over and over again.
Through you, He has provided for our every need. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your partnership. Together we have covered a lot of miles and have seen a faithful God plant his church in some of the remotest areas of the world.
