The helicopter whizzed past forest covered hilltops. In my minds eye I saw a giant billboard announcing that you are now at the end of the world. We flew past it and beyond… deep into Moi territory. After 40 hours of travel I arrived at my destination. A Moi village on a lonely hilltop.
It was just a couple of years ago that the first Moi elievers were born, and they’re eager to delve more into God’s Word. Incredibly One man even has the genealogy from Adam to Christ memorized.
Their discussions are far from shallow. They’re realizing that God is in control, and if they went back to their old ways, they would be trying to control the Creator. They agreed that, “We can’t even control our kids. What are we thinking when we try to control God?”
The Moi are also turning Old Testament stories into songs. I made some recordings while visiting; these will be part of the online portion of this issue of NTM@work at ntm.org/magazine.
It is amazing to see look into the eyes of these people. People who were once walking in darkness, now have their eyes lit up with the joy of the Lord. You will see it too, in the beginning of next year, when our video on God’s work among the Moi comes out.
Together, we are bringing the light of God’s message to the tribal peoples who inhabit the remote places of the earth.
