Barefoot, I bend down and pick another clothes pin from a tin can. The breeze is warm and swirls around the little, wet dress I clip on the wash line. I smile. Our Lydia adores this yellow dress.
Deep breathe.
“Lord, you did it’. My hearts whispers to My good God.
The last 2 months has been constant shifting and changing.
Last minute support raising.
Moving out of our home of a year and half.
Placing memories in storage.
Family holiday gatherings.
Last time “see you later’s”.
Covid test and possible exposure scare.
Packing and then repacking to get to our luggage to the right weight.
Sleepless nights.
Family walks in the winter rye fields of Lancaster, PA.
“Lord, you did it”.
The Papua New Guinea Highlands of Goroka are before my eyes.
A palm tree waves to me in the warm drift across the road at Jigs petro station.
“YOU did it. Lord you got us here, to PNG. Bless your name Abba.”
May our family always remember and rejoice in the way our God got us faithfully to the island of Papua.
The many miracles that lifted us here.
I flip my empty laundry basket upside down and leave it by the wash line. I have seen the Papua New Guinea woman do this and wonder when I’ll find out why?
Is it to keep the grass out of the basket?
Maybe there is another reason? I laugh at myself wondering if it may be just what she has always done.
I head back up a small hill to our home for the next month before another move here, in country. Three more days of quarantine and then we can wander and investigate and learn. We can begin our mistake making and fool looking that happens in learning. But we are ready for that because God did it. God got us here. God cares about the one lost sheep. We care about the one lost sheep.
Till then we do laundry, clean home and homeschool. Anticipating this coming week when we step out into this new home under our feet.
Till then and after we say.
“God you did it.”

Yahoo!! We know He will continue to guide and lead your family.

What a journey your family has had already! Praising God for his faithfulness! Praying for his blessed assurance in the decisions you make going forward.
Loved the writing too by the way. I love hanging laundry out and turn the basket upside down to keep critters out too.

I am your long lost aunt Ellen Katie Shaiebly, the youngest daughter of Paul & Ella Shaiebly. I have spoken with Sandy over the years and I was thrilled to learn of your desire to go to the missionfield. Your grandfather and grandparents would be, too. I, and my husband, James, pray for your family daily. Take one day at a time as you learn about the town you are in and the language. Remember how kids learn–who, what, when, where, why & how. God is all powerful!!

I flip my laundry basket upside down too. My reasoning is to keep the dirt, dust, leaves & critters out.

Its great to know you are where God wants you. These pictures will have to do for our trip south this year as covid has shut down all flights south until April. I hope the move to your next home goes smoothly. Praying that you can learn all you need to and not look the fool too often.
