Tigak Mission Trip

May 16, 2016 by Ned and Linn Beall

Thank you for praying for Ned’s hike in and out of a remote tribe to do a
translation check in April.  His knees did not give him ANY problems either
direction.  We are so thankful.  Ned has been working hard trying to finish
the last of the Tigak Epistles before we head to the USA for Josiah’s
wedding in June.  It will be a fast trip so we won’t have time to do much
traveling but we will be in Texas for the month of July if any of you want
to try to meet up.

A group of the Tigak believers traveled into a near-by language group last
week to encourage those who are hearing the Gospel for the first time.  It
was an encouraging time for our believers and for those hearing the
teaching.  The Tigak really saw the Lord undertake for them.  They traveled
by boat from our island for 2 hours and then had a 6 hour hike into the
village.  Both directions they were able to catch a timber company truck for
part of the hike.  They were so thankful since they are not used to long
hikes as a result of living on an island that is only ½ mile long!  They
found the part of the hike they did do was challenging.  They also told how
the Lord provided meat for them to eat.  The people there had lots of garden
food and were very generous with it.  A random wild pig wandered into the
village and actually gored a local man requiring 7 stitches by the
missionary.  They were able to kill the pig and share the meat around the
village for several days.

One of our young new believers made the trip and was a bit apprehensive
about being the only young guy on the trip.  He got lots of attention from
the young people of the village, seeing him they began to realize that the
teaching was not just for the older adults.  Please pray for this young
believer – Terrence – that he will be challenged by the needs he saw and see
how the Lord can use him to reach his young Tigak friends here at home.  He
has inroads with many in the “trouble maker” crowd.  We would love to see
these young people as part of the future of the church!

Also, please be praying for Noe and Lisa Martinez as they start their 2nd
Culture and Language Evaluation today.  Noe came down sick with a fever this
morning so he really needs healing to make it through the testing time over
the next few days!
