One Year Later

July 13, 2021 by Nick and Kathy Borio

One year ago, we arrived at the Ethnos360 Training campus. It is great to realize that one year later, we have definitely settled in and feel at home. We are so excited to enter our second year serving on staff here!

In January, we talked about the word EQUIP and how God set that thought before us as we approached the new year. Pray for us this coming semester that we faithfully serve the students here as God equips them for ministry through His Word, classes, mentoring, and the other intentional training opportunities. Pray also that we keep a learner’s attitude and trust that God continues to equip us in our ministries.

The summer months keep the Grounds crew busy as the rain, heat, and humidity keep things constantly growing. They have also been working on a well project on campus, and Nick has jumped back and forth between Grounds and Garage, maintaining and fixing campus vehicles and machinery.

Classes start in a month, so I (Kathy) will start preparing soon for my new childcare class of two- and three-year olds. For now, the girls and I have been enjoying a slower pace and a lot of quality time together. We all love childcare, but it also is a special blessing for me to be home with my daughters in the summer. I have also worked on a few online training courses that keep me up-to-date and prepared for working in an early childhood setting.

After a year of ministry, we were so blessed to make a trip home this summer and actually say goodbye at our sending church and at other partnering churches. It was a true blessing to connect with ministry partners and share about God’s faithfulness to our family and ministry over the last year. Our trip to Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania was a bit of a whirlwind, but it was also a huge encouragement to us. With only a week or less in each place, we are sad that we could not get together with everyone. For those we did see, thank you so much for your hospitality and encouragement.  You gave us renewed energy for the coming school year!

As we prepare for new students to arrive, pray that it is not just physical preparation (getting housing ready, setting up my childcare classroom, etc) but also spiritual as we pray for many opportunities to serve and encourage the missionaries in training. Thank you all for supporting us as we support them. Pray that we seek God’s wisdom to lead us in ministry, parenting, and marriage.

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

43 hours in the car and 2 plane flights…these girls were such great travelers!!

Kathy , Nick and girls. We are so glad you made it to PA this trip. What a joy to be able to safely reunite with friends and family. Especially Haycock camp friends. Sending you all our love and prayers.
