Qualifying the Called

June 15, 2020 by Nick and Kathy Borio

Many people love the phrase “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” And we love the reminder that God uses the weak to shame the strong, so that we can only make our boasts in the Lord (1 Cor. 1:27). But how does He qualify those that He calls?  One way is through the faithful ministry of the body of Christ. Some teach, some train, some send, and some go! Even though there are urgent needs around the world, we shouldn’t go hastily or impatiently. As we go share the Gospel, we can honor God in cross-cultural ministry through preparation.

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

Proverbs 21:5

We are so excited for our ministry at the Missionary Training Center because we realize that training is a vital part of cross-cultural ministry. In order to share God’s Word effectively, it is important to learn how to enter other languages and cultures.

As imitators of Christ, we need to enter the language and culture of others as a demonstration of God’s gracious outreach to us. We all bear God’s image, and a view of God’s throne in heaven shows a multitude from “every nation, tribe, people, and language” (Rev. 7:9). As we consider the dignity of each person, we pray that we look like Christ in how we reach others.

What’s next: The past few months serving at the Homes of Ethnos360 have been such a blessing to us! We are thankful that God led us here during a time of uncertainty and that Nick was able to help with their staff needs. We are now planning our move to the Missionary Training Center. We are slightly short of our monthly support needs, but we are praying and trusting God to provide the remainder of our needs. In the meantime, we have started to pack and have been talking with our leadership about a moving plan.

The girls are ready to pack again!
Please pray for:
  • Grace and patience with our girls as we pack, drive, and unpack
  • Wisdom in deciding our moving date
  • Continued provision for our monthly support needs
We are praising God:
  • For all Nick has learned from the Grounds and Maintenance team at the Homes
  • For the ways God has raised up our ministry partnership team
  • That we have been able to engage in online church fellowship over the past few months

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers and for all the encouragement from texts, calls, letters, and emails. We appreciate your faithfulness to our family. Let us know how we can pray for you!
