In our last update, we shared some of the health challenges facing Nick and Emmy. We are so grateful for all the prayers and encouragement you sent our way! Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Your kind and comforting words were so sweet to us and helped us keep our focus on God during trying circumstances.
Emmy’s strict diet helped heal a lot of her digestion issues, and she is doing much better. Nick found a doctor nearby who specializes in an allergy treatment for Alpha-gal, and it is making a big difference in his symptoms! We are so thankful. He still occasionally deals with hives and new allergies as a result of his severe case of Alpha-gal, but even in those struggles, we find ourselves growing closer to God. 2 Corinthians 4:16 reminds us that “outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” It is good to realize our weakness so that we rely on God to provide a spiritual strength that only He can give.
There are a lot of projects going on at the Ethnos360 Training Center, and here are a few pictures of what we’ve been doing:
During some cold winter temperatures, frozen pipes caused a flood in our campus guesthouse facilities. The BGM guys worked late into the night ripping out carpet, cabinets, and drywall to try to dry things out quickly. Now, they are working on a major remodel.
A generous donor gave a greenhouse to our campus, so Nick has been making plans on where and when to reassemble it. He and others worked to unload it last month (during some freezing cold weather!), and now it is time to prepare the foundation.
Nick is also making a slight change to his ministry here—though he remains Head of Grounds, he is also taking on a small role with the IT department by helping with the audio and visual equipment. He recently worked on fixing some issues with the sound systems in a few of the classrooms.
The girls have accompanied me to some meetings lately for my role with the Education Resource Center. We have also enjoyed opening our home to babysit our co-worker’s kids when other moms have ministry responsibilities. I love that God has provided things I can do with my daughters by my side.
