Here on our field headquarters we have over 80 national workers that help us in a variety of tasks….office workers, maintenance, security, house help, aviation help, medical workers. On top of their invaluable assistance, we are also able to develop friendships (especially for those of us who don’t get off center much).
Early in January several of the missionaries here began teaching a daily Bible class to all our workers. Normally these lessons are done in tok ples, their native language. But since we have several different languages represented in our group, these lessons were done in the national trade language, Tok Pisin.
Every day, for over 6 weeks, the team of teachers, including some national Believers from one of our remote tribal locations, taught starting in Genesis and focusing on who God is and who we are before Him — our lost and fallen state with NOTHING we can do to make it right. They used object lessons that really went to the core of some of the wrong beliefs about how to be right with God.
A few attending are already Believers and have been enjoying this time in God’s Word. Many attending are not and we are praying that their hearts will be softened and that they will trust Christ as their Savior. We have heard of many already showing signs of excitement and trust in these truths. Please pray with us that many will turn to Jesus.
Finance Update
We recently asked many of you to be praying about our financial situation. NTM a recommended support level for each field of service (and each family size). Unfortunately most missionaries are well under being 100% supported.
We found ourselves in that situation when we returned in May 2014. Having made so many trips back and forth to the US in the last 5 years (marriage and two babies) we had depleted our savings and were struggling with all the extra expenses.
We sure do appreciate all your prayers especially regarding our finances. We also are so thankful for those of you who give. We recently received several extra gifts that have helped us to get out of debt to the PNG field and even begin saving for emergencies.
It is our desire to be good stewards of what the Lord has entrusted to us. If you have any questions about how our finances are handled please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Kodiak Training Trip
In early March Paul will head back to the US for a few weeks of maintenance training for our new Kodiak aircraft. Daddy will be missed by all as this will be the longest he has been away from home. We can rest knowing that this vital training will help Paul prepare to maintain and service our two Kodiak aircraft that will be heading to PNG. (And we can anticipate the goodies from America that he will bring back with him too!)
While he is gone, Andrea is excited to have a dear friend, Kathy Purves, come and help with the kids for a couple of weeks. Kathy is the children’s director at South Potomac Church, our sending church. We are so thankful for SPC loaning Aunt Kathy to us and also for the many folks who contributed to the costs of her trip. With no grandparents or day cares near by Andrea is going to rely heavily on Kathy to help get through this time of family separation.
