I wanted to give you a quick update on our "Wild West" trip and to thank all of you who made our trip a fun time. We covered about 10,000 miles, going from Florida to Mississippi, Texas and Colorado and then on to Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington and Montana. Our time with friends and relatives was priceless! One of the highlights of our trip was visiting with our son, Jason and wife, Tiffany (and dog, Titan) in Colorado.
We were able to share our ministry in 6 supporting churches and with various friends and relatives before heading back east again. You may have heard that we experienced car problems in Wyoming. What we thought was just a bad water pump turned out to be a much larger problem. Praise the Lord, we were able to rent a car and drive to Colorado to visit relatives who entertained us and put up with us for several days while waiting for the car to be fixed. They went out of their way to make our time there enjoyable and we sure appreciated it! They were such an answer to prayer!
Then we visited a few more folks on the way to Wisconsin where we dropped Cody off for his first year at New Tribes Bible Institute. Please pray for his adjustments there.
Since we have been back: Haley has started to high school and is considering going out for soccer this year. Heather started her second year of college at the University of Central Florida. She has been living with us but is in the process of looking for an apartment closer to the college so she won’t have to do so much driving back and forth. She found another MK who would like to room with her.
Phil and I are back at work at the mission headquarters and the mission school. I am teaching 4th grade and 8th grade math again this year. Since it is a private school just for the children of our missionaries my classes are very small – only three students in each class. This is nice because it gives me more quality time with each student. I do have a couple of students with learning disabilities so I am asking the Lord for wisdom to know how to teach so that all the students will learn to the best of their abilities. I am doing secretarial work in the Field Ministries office, again, as well.
There have been some new families joining headquarters staff. Two have already arrived and another is on the way. A couple of the apartments where they will be living are still in need of some remodeling. Phil is busy in the carpenter shop making vanities and cabinets to finish the remodel. One of the new couples will be working in the medical claims office helping missionaries around the world settle their claims and pay their bills when they need medical attention. The other new arrival is working in the computer services department. It is nice to be able to help them have an updated home in which to live.
We wanted to thank you again for partnering with us to reach the tribes with the Gospel!
In Christ,
Phil and Jackie Burns
