LET US TELL YOU ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
At the present time we are serving as ‘support missionaries‘ working at Ethnos360 -U.S. Main Office in Sanford, Florida.
How can we help tribal missions by working in Florida? Glad you asked! Let me tell you a little bit about our ministry here and why we continue to be involved in reaching the tribes with the Gospel.
Phil enjoys carpentry and is pleased to use his talents on the maintenance team keeping the main building, offices, and missionary apartments in good working order. Actually, his jobs are varied: working on the roof, building and installing cabinets, making windows and doing whatever else is needed to maintain the building. The maintenance guys never seem to run out of work to do!
Jackie serves as a secretary in the Field Ministries Office. This office handles correspondence with missionaries or anything having to do with Bible translation, literacy, the Chronological Teaching or language and culture acquisition.
After working for years as tribal missionaries, we know how important support personnel are in keeping missionaries on the field. The ones we help everyday in maintaining their homes and offices and teaching their children, are the ones who make the mission work so that tribal missionaries can do their job of reaching the unreached with the Gospel. The money that people send to help their missionaries on the field comes through the offices here. Missionaries who need assistance with medical insurance claims call here. There are offices here which handle various phases of mission work: whether it is short term missions, annuities for people who want to help tribal people hear the Good News, computer repairs or service or some other phase of missions. Missionaries who need help with Bible translation, community development, or any other facet of working with indigenous people call the office where Jackie works for materials, new ideas, and encouragement. Without the help of support missionaries, both here and on the field, few tribal missionaries would be able to remain on the job. We are pleased to be able to help them complete their jobs.
Our present ministry doesn’t seem to be as ‘exciting’ as our work in Bolivia with the Yuqui, but we constantly remind ourselves that the support ministry of our ‘frontline’ missionaries is a vital part of the missionary effort to reach the unreached with the Gospel. We feel that this is where the Lord has us at this time. Please pray that we would be a blessing as we serve the Lord by serving our overseas missionaries.
