Hello. We just wanted to say thanks for your interest in our lives and work. We appreciate your prayers for us and support for our ministry here at New Tribes Mission’s USA headquarters.
We have been busy and have done a lot of traveling, recently. As you probably know, my Father (Phil’s) was promoted to glory last month. We are thankful for his Godly life, and though we miss him, we are pleased that he is now free from his sickness and bed and enjoying the pleasures of His Lord. We were happy to be able to travel to Montana and have a week with the family and attend his memorial service. We got back here to Florida on the last day of September.

October 15-19 we were privileged to participate in a mission’s conference at Hopeful Baptist Church in Lake City, FL. We were able to share in two different Christian schools and with a children’s group at church on Wednesday night. We also got to share in an adult Sunday school class and share on a missionary panel on Sunday evening. We had a gracious hostess who lived out in the country, so we saw lots of woods and fields, cows and horses – things becoming rarer here in central Florida. It was a good time of relaxing, challenging others and being challenged, ourselves.
We are again busy in our ministries here at headquarters. I am almost finished with a set of kitchen cabinets. We have a new staff family ready to move in, but much work is still to be done on their house. At least my part is about done. As we serve our home staff, they do the jobs that keep so many of our tribal missionaries on the field and in the tribe. Without the ministries here: computer techs, medical insurance, tax office, finance office- the lists goes on and on, most missionaries serving overseas would have a hard time staying on the field.
Jackie keeps busy in the field ministry office. She is there to help our overseas missionaries get the helps and information they need to be more effective in the tribe in the areas of literacy, Bible Translation, church planting and chronological teaching materials. She is still teaching two math classes in our mission school. They are small classes so that makes it nice.
Keep praying for Bolivia. There is still a lot of turmoil there, but at least the situation has not worsened. We also received word that a tribal friend and believer died. Benjamin told our Bolivian missionary that he knew he was going to die, but that he knew he would go to be with God in Heaven. I am guessing he was there with Jesus to welcome my father, as my dad was always praying for us while we worked there. Dad continued to pray for the Indians and Bolivian missionaries after we left Bolivia.
We do appreciate you. Thanks again for all you do for us. May God bless. We enjoyed so much the short time we had with you there. Thanks for letting us share with the folks.
Phil, for the Burns’ gang
P.S. Hope you enjoy the pictures from Montana, the mission conference and Benjamin.
