We may complain about expensive flights and inconvenient security checks at airports these days but Lourens Laureti, a missionary to the Mengen people of Papua New Guinea, knows what it feels like to NOT HAVE a plane to travel in. Recently the shortage of pilots and fuel necessitated a grueling 3 hours being ‘compressed’ on the local transportation, then a 2 hour truck ride to a village where he spent the night with sand flies and fleas. The next day he hiked through the jungle in the rain and mud to the Mengen village where his family lives and ministers. Laureti said that he much prefers the shorter, 35 minute flight by plane! Pray for our missionaries that they will have the finances, the planes, fuel and pilots necessary to help make their ministries more effective.
