-Who made the world? -Can you know for sure where you will go after you die? -Who were the first people? All these attention getting questions were just teasers for what was to follow.
“Set March 14, 2016, on your calendar. That is the date we will begin teaching the scriptures to our Lue friends and neighbors in our village. Can you believe it?! We are trembling with excitement at that thought.”
This was from Rob and Dawn Orwiler, missionaries in Thailand, as they were anticipating starting the chronological Bible teaching to the Lue tribal people. Actually, due to some complications the teaching start date was Easter Sunday, March 27.The questions above were some used by the missionaries to cause the people to start thinking about their beliefs and world view before the actual lessons began:
They had introduced these types of questions with Pa Pong and Pa Sanguan (their lesson helpers) before they assisted them with the first Bible lessons years ago. The helpers cited those same questions as a big reason why they wanted to hear about the stories from the Bible. Pray that the other Lue would have that same desire to hear the message from God’s Word.
They asked us to pray for unity between their co-workers (Greg and Tina Burt, Amanda Hemperly) – that Satan would cause disunity to disrupt the teaching.
Pray for excitement to build in the people there – for a hunger for the Truth.
Pray that the missionaries would simply trust God to do His work among this people group.
