Oh No! Not Again!

October 16, 2010 by Phil and Elin Henderson

Phil has been translating a series of stories from the book of Numbers. Most of the recent stories they have translated have to do with the children of Israel complaining in the wilderness. As he starts explaining the story that they are about to translate it usually goes something like this… “Then the children of Israel moved and camped at a place called X and there was no water there. All the Israelites gathered together and complained to Moses and God and said “if only we ….” At this point all the translation helpers let out a collective groan. “Not again! Don’t those Israel people ever learn?” And then usually one of the speaks up and says in a sober voice “Yeah, but we are just like them. We are always doing things and we know very well that they are wrong. Our hearts run away from God just as fast as their hearts do.” Pray that God continues to speak to the translation helper’s hearts and that they continue to be amazed at God’s graciousness.
