Thank you for praying for us over the past few days. We were able to hold both of our meetings. The more important was held yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon regarding our plan to begin teaching the Bible lessons in a few weeks. We had a good gathering of religious, government, and clan leaders in attendance. We agreed with them on a location to start the teaching. It will be in the part of the village near our home. We also agreed that it would be for everyone who wants to attend but the main focus would be on the family units in the 4 communities closest to us. All in all there are about 1500 people in those 4 closest communities. Furthermore we agreed that the time of the day for the meetings to be held will be the mid afternoon and that the teaching will occur every day 4 times a week (Mon-Thurs) with a possibility to increase it to 5. At the rate of 4 days a week it will take about 4.5 months to complete the lessons once we start teaching. Only the starting date has not yet been decided as we are not quite ready with all our lesson preparations. Please continue praying with us that we will be able to get the lessons and translation ready soon and that the community will be excited to come and hear the teaching.
We also had a meeting today (Wednesday) regarding the literacy program. It was supposed to have been held Monday but it got postponed to today. The community leaders still want to talk about it but they thought that it might be a better idea if we wait until after the Bible teaching is done to start up the next literacy class to which we heartily agreed. They said they would rather have the Bible teaching be the priority right now. The best time for both literacy and Bible teaching is mid-afternoon and it wouldn’t work to schedule them at the same time.
Overall we are very happy with how these meetings went. Thank you for praying! We ask that you keep praying for us as we prepare to start teaching. There is still lots of work to do. Please continue to pray for the hearts of the people in the community that they would be interested in hearing God’s word taught.
