We are now meeting twice a week. On Mondays we gather for the primary lesson; right now I am teaching through Acts. This week we talked about how the angel helped Peter escape from prison. This meeting continues to be well attended and people are tracking well. We have been seeing a lot of new people showing up to these meetings as they hear about it from their friends.
On Wednesdays we meet again as believers. This meeting cycles between the four major villages that were a part of our initial audience. Attendance has varied from 10-15 people per meeting. These meetings started while we were on break. I have been to two of these meetings since our return and they are being run by the believers themselves following their own agenda. They start by each sharing a testimony of a story or a particular truth they remember from the teaching and encouraging the rest to believe and practice what they have learned. It has been very encouraging to hear their comments.
One guy mentioned the need to reach out to others. He encouraged the group by saying the reason that the Hattinghs and ourselves were able to come and share the truth with them was not because of our race or our education or our wealth but because we depended on the Holy Spirit that was inside of us. He pointed out that when they go and share and God’s truth with other villages it will have to be on the same basis. What will enable them to share will be His enablement through the Holy Spirit that is now in them.
Hearing them express these truths and seeing their interest in sharing God’s word has been a great encouragement.
