SETTING THE TRAP

January 22, 2012 by Phil and Elin Henderson

This past week we taught on how Satan works very hard to trap and deceive each of us. This happens at both and individual and cultural level. Each culture has its own “bait” that it likes to fall for. We illustrated by reminding them how they trap birds. When they want to catch the epiliwi bird they make a trap and put some papaya in as bait. When they want to catch a hawk they use a live chicken as bait. You can’t catch hawks with papaya and you can’t catch epiliwi with chickens. In the same way Satan knows how to trap each culture using the bait that is most appropriate for that culture. He can’t trap very many American’s using divination that says a person’s dead ancestor wants them to perform a flour ceremony in their honor but he can catch a lot of Mwinika that way. The illustration brought out the point very well.
