This is where the surrender documents were signed that helped end the Revolutionary War!

We were able to visit the historic Jamestown colony in Virginia.

We spent a day on the green in downtown DC.

A log cabin replica where General Washington’s troops wintered at Valley Forge.

While in New York we took the ferry over and enjoyed visiting the Statue of Liberty for the first time. We had hoped to visit Ellis Island as well but it was still closed due to damage from Super Storm Sandy!

During our visit to New York we visited the 9-11 Memorial. A very sobering and moving monument.

Here’s how the original pilgrims lived! Neat sights at Plimoth Plantation in Massachusetts! Some of the interesting things we learned was that the spelling we’re used to (Plymouth) wasn’t as common as “Plimoth” at the time and that the original settlers didn’t use the term “pilgrims” in reference to themselves.
