Do you know how many languages spoken in the world today have no part of the Bible in their language?
During the last month, I have enjoyed getting together with several people and small groups and sharing about the burden that God has given me for reaching one of those people groups in Papua New Guinea. Over three hundred people groups in Papua New Guinea still have no access to God’s Word in their language. I am excited that God has called me to have a part in bringing His Word to one of these people groups. If you have any questions about what I will be doing in Papua New Guinea when I leave in January, please let me know! I enjoy talking about what God is doing there.
Back to the initial question–the answer is 2,200. Have you thought about what it would be like if you were unable to read the Bible–and did not know anyone who could read it? For millions of people in the world today, that is a reality.
“Not called!” did you say? “Not heard the call,” I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father’s house and bid their brothers and sisters, and servants and masters not to come there. And then look Christ in the face, whose mercy you have professed to obey, and tell him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish his mercy to the world.
