October 11th, NTM Paraguay will host a Pastors/Leaders Forum to talk with local pastors about working more closely with the local church.
We want to assist the church in training, equipping, and sending missionaries to plant churches among the unreached in Paraguay and around the world. We\’ll be discussing the need of all Christians, no matter where they are from, to be involved in world evangelism, acquaint them with ministry of NTM in Paraguay, and listen to their thoughts, questions, and perspectives.
In preparation for the forum, Randy has been meeting with Dean and Mike Goddard, our coworkers in this vital ministry of Mobilization. Dean and Nellie Goddard were some of our very first coworkers in the Aché, back in 1989. Mike was a teenager then, and now almost, 20 years later, we\’re working together again.
During the forum Randy will assist in presenting New Tribes Mission and I\’ll make snacks and prepare a meal in order to invite some of those attending for lunch after the forum. I\’ve also been making table cloths for use in the seminar. Randy\’s and my involvement in Mobilization is limited, to a degree, since we also have other responsibilities, but it is a privileged to work with both Mike and Dean and their families.
This first Pastors Forum will start with a smaller group of pastors. It looks like four of the men in leadership from the church we attend here in Asunción, will be attending. We respect each of them highly, and look forward to their input.
As an aspect of the Mobilization ministry, Dean and Mike are currently teaching Chronologically through the Bible in the Guarani language in small country Paraguayan churches. The purpose is to see them grounded in foundational truths so they are ready to reach out to people around them and in other places, clearly presenting the Gospel, and to train others to carry on the ministry of Chronological Bible teaching without missionary involvement.
Dean, Mike, and our Pastor Carlos were recently able to travel to an area five hours away to share with a group of pastors from six churches, for that very purpose. The pastors are excited about being able to more clearly teach the Bible. Mike and Dean will be making a number of trips over the next few months, to teach them how to use the Bible lessons.
We want to thank you again for your vital part in our ministries in Paraguay.
You fellow servant,
Laurie for all
