A new missionary family has arrived in Paraguay and are in the process of getting moved into a house and adapting to Paraguay. A local church has “adopted” them and has been a huge blessing in helping them as they adjust to life here in Paraguay and get to know the language, culture, and people.
Laurie and I have spent quite a bit of time with the pastor and folks from the church, getting to know them, letting them get to know us, helping them better understand the ministry that the Lord is accomplishing through New Tribes Mission, and working on how the local church and I can work together in helping the missionaries in being further equipped for future ministry.
Their involvement is vital as these new missionaries experientially apply principles and tools for learning a new language and culture, just like they will need to do when they begin in a tribal work. The focus is on building relationships and learning how to learn language and culture, through the setting of Spanish and Paraguayan culture here.
We are excited that starting the first of next year, we will have a number of new missionary families and singles arriving every month to month-and-a-half. That is a huge answer to prayer, but also leads to other prayer requests.
We are looking to the Lord for guidance and direction in finding Host Churches willing to work with us as we guide, direct, and help the new missionaries as they arrive. Churches and individuals that will partner with us in further equipping these new missionaries to face the challenges of tribal evangelism.
