Hurricanes, After Effects, and Shopping!

August 29, 2008 by Regina Rodman

Fay leaves a wake of flooding behind. Ducks swim in the road
in front of NTM's US home office.

It is high time to update you on all my adventures!

This week, we are finally getting clear of Tropical Storm Fay. It was exciting at first, then I thought it would never go away! The wind was strong, just trying to cross the street was hard – now we have some flooding in our county. Next time, I will try just using a raincoat instead of an umbrella because it gets flipped in the wind. All is well though, and it was a great first tropical storm since we didn’t lose power or water – Praise the Lord!

At work I’ve been learning After Effects (a motion graphics program) to use with the “Get Involved” videos. We’ve got some of them running up in the lobby, but are working on more with tribal quotes. Please pray that I can come up with a creative solution for these. We’re also in the process of getting a light kit to shoot some in-house updates. Every project presents new learning opportunities, please pray that I will rise to the challenge. It’s been a little slow the past few weeks with co-workers in and out of the office.

The past couple of weeks, I’ve been enjoying the Olympics with my neighbors, the Burgetts. They are a fun family to hang out with.

I’ve been reading about the kings lately, and challenged by how they sought God and He answered. Manasseh, an evil king, set up all kinds of idols, and God had him get captured by the Assyrian king. Then, from captivity, he called out to God, and God restored him back to his kingdom. Another king, Josiah, responded like no other king with his whole heart to follow after God’s word. There was all kind of idolatry in the land, and they “found” the word of God when they were repairing the temple. Josiah then obeyed with his heart, and God decided that in mercy, he would not destroy Jerusalem in Josiah’s time. I pray that I can have that same kind of attitude toward God – wholehearted obedience.

Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for my arm, which gets a lot of computer use, that I will take care of it and not get repetitive strain injury.

2. Pray that I will seek God first

3. Pray that God will be glorified in ALL I do, whether working or doing the dishes.

4. Pray for wisdom & creativity with our budget as I put together lighting equipment and create a set for a studio downstairs.

5. I’m having a Bible study with a lady at a nursing home. Please pray for her to understand God’s word and that I can be a clear testimony to others I meet there… Thanks!
