Laptop Need for Indonesia Trip

October 9, 2008 by Regina Rodman

A tribal hut in the Moi tribe.

One of my main jobs on the team is editing. My department is recommending that I purchase a macbook pro (laptop) that I can take overseas to edit with. This laptop would replace my PC laptop at home and also be used for ministry.

In addition to the laptop, I need to update my copy of Final Cut Studio to match the version we use at work. The approximate cost of this project is $2400, depending on the speed of the laptop, which is important to consider when working with video footage. I’m considering whether to get a refurbished mac or a new one. There are “rumors” that Apple might be upgrading their macbook line mid-October, so please pray for wisdom for me to know what to purchase and when, as well as for the computer to arrive before the trip.

I like to use things until they’re really worn out, but I feel like God is calling me to trust Him to provide abundantly. In my Bible study with Sally two weeks ago, we were studying creation in the Garden of Eden, and the book brought out all the variety of trees and everything that God created – not just enough for Adam and Eve’s basic needs, but much more. When reading that, God encouraged my heart to trust Him to provide for this new equipment, which will increase effectiveness and enhance the ministry God has called me to do.
